Success in our careers depends on our ability to deliver results. The material that Boris presents in his DVD's will allow you to achieve better and faster results!
Medical Massage, Therapeutic Massage, Orthopedic Massage
and Sports Massage.
Lately, in all the various professional publications
including professional associations there were very intensive discussions about
terms like Medical Massage, Therapeutic Massage, Orthopedic Massage and Sports
Massage.
It is a well-known fact that most arguments are sparked
because of the difference in terminology.
In my opinion, the term Medical Massage and Therapeutic Massage means
the same thing. I am fairly optimistic that every dictionary out there will
support my position. We are massage therapists, which means we provide therapy
by means of massage. Therapy means health benefits to the human body and that
is what medical massage therapy stands for. I call the method I teach and
practice Medical Massage. The reason I call it this is because the founders and
researchers who developed this method called it Medical Massage.
Massage Therapy encompasses different disciplines,
specializations and expertise. For example, Full Body Medical Stress Management
Massage associates important methods in managing side effects of stress
including high blood pressure, anxiety, tension headaches, ulcers as well as
prevention of aforementioned pathologies. Orthopedic Massage is also a Medical/Therapeutic
Massage deals with procedures designed to treat back & limb disorders that
could be results of sports related injuries, industrial injuries, car accidents
and etc… Another area of expertise is the sports massage including pre and post
event sports massage procedures. Pre-event sports massage helps us prepare
athletes to perform better as well as prevent sports related injuries.
Post-event sports massage is series of methods that focuses on rehabilitating
professional athletes and gym enthusiasts from the side effects of vigorous
exercise and overtraining.
I believe that scientifically designed step-by-step
protocols are much easier to study, promising us faster and sustained results
as well as preventing practitioners from aggravating their client's conditions.
It is not important if we call our method medical massage, therapeutic massage
or just massage therapy. What is important is to realize that massage therapy
is a simple, powerful and safe therapeutic tool.
Recently, I had a conversation with a massage therapist who
is not an IPPT graduate but takes a lot of my continuing education classes.
Coincidently, this practitioner also has a strong background in marketing. His
opinion was that my medical massage programs are so valuable that students,
like in any other school, should be required to pass an interview and entrance
exam in order to be accepted into my school, especially for
advance classes. My reply was that I believe in a simple approach to
medical and sports massage. I believe that everyone regardless of their
academic background, who wants to treat people with their hands, should have an
opportunity to become a massage therapist if they want to. As we all agree,
what sets a good therapist apart is his/her ability of deliver results, and not
his/her ego, social status, intellectual level, ethnic background etc.
Based on my experience of educating more than 7500 students,
I have come to the conclusion that in the beginning of the training process it
is very difficult to predict, which individual will be better
practitioner. To discover one’s potential as healer, it takes will,
desire and dedication, right philosophical approach and understanding. My
hope is that this book will help you to discover the right direction in
discovering of your true potential.
Why Medical Massage? Medical massage is one of the most effective and simple tools for reaching rapid and sustained results in various disorders including sciatic nerve neuralgia, hypertension, impingement syndromes, and lower back disorders. Medical massage is a comprehensive method of soft tissue mobilization consisting of connective tissue massage (fascia mobilization), muscular mobilization, trigger point therapy (if trigger points exist), skin mobilization, and other components. In his DVD's, Boris demonstrates and explains how to palpate and detect abnormalities in the skin, fascia, muscles. He also offers techniques for the elimination of tension in fascia and muscles, trigger point therapy, and reduction of high skin density. The elimination of these abnormalities leads to immediate results, including reduction of pain, and release of nerve impingements. All the protocols that Boris teaches in his DVD's are easy to learn and are clearly and extensively explained as Boris demonstrates their hands-on application. Boris strives to supply the viewer with both a thorough understanding of the physiological effects of medical massage, as well as a thorough demonstration of all techniques.
How valid is Medical Massage? Medical massage was initially researched and proposed in 1936 by the Russian physician Anatoli Sherbak, M.D., Ph.D. About 20 years later, two German physicians, Dr. Glezer and Dr. Dalicho, developed maps of reflex zones abnormalities in the skin, fascia, muscles, and periosteum. Their work was based on the database of Dr. Sherbak. The first edition of the textbook by Drs. Glezer and Dalicho was published in 1955. Reflex zones maps of Drs. Glezer and Dalicho help tremendously to detect and find the above-mentioned disorders of the support and movement system and of inner organs. Most importantly, you can be sure that you are utilizing safe and effective techniques, as all of these protocols were developed through research. Through their massive utilization in most European countries and all over the world since 1955, all of these procedures have been clinically proven to be safe and effective. Boris deeply believes that studying scientifically-developed protocols is much easier than studying other methods. The reason is that the scientifically-developed protocols offer a step-by-step method design.
Do the DVD's contain the Glezer & Dalicho maps? The "bonus materials" section of every DVD contains maps of Glezer & Dalicho's reflex zones abnormalities (for cervical disorders, elbow and knee disorders, cardiac disorders, and more!) We highly recommend using these maps as a guide. These maps can direct you to the potential localization of trigger points, fascia and muscle tension, and more. |
